Aerosol Technical Information

Shake can for a minimum of 2 minutes prior to use ensuring that the contents are fully mixed. A trial sample should be done prior to application to guarantee correct colour & sheen. Hold the can 10 - 20cm from surface to be sprayed, moving the can steadily in a straight line, overlapping slightly on each pass.

When spraying is complete, invert the can and spray briefly to clear the nozzle and valve.

If the nozzle is blocked when re-using :-

  1. Remove the nozzle and soak in solvent for several minutes and replace.
  2. Replace permanently blocked nozzles with a new nozzle and use as normal.

Precautions

  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Avoid contact with skin and eyes
  • Do not spray onto naked flame or incandescent material
  • Avoid inhalation of vapour, particles and spray mist
  • Where practicable this should be achieved by use of exhaust ventilation. If this is not sufficient to maintain particles and solvent vapour then suitable respiratory equipment must be used.
  • Full aerosols are pressurised containers and should never be banged, thrown or crushed which may result in failure of the seals or cause explosion.
  • (Further information is available from HMG Material Safety Data Sheets.)

Fire Prevention

  • To prevent the creation of flammable concentrations of vapour in the air, good natural ventilation and, if necessary, exhaust ventilation should be provided
  • Additionally, aerosols should only be used in areas which are free of naked flames and other sources of ignition (including unprotected electrical equipment)
  • Pressurised containers should be stored away from all sources of heat to avoid the risk of explosion
  • Good housekeeping standards and the regular and safe removal of empty containers will minimise risks

Disposal

  • Aerosols must never be punctured or incinerated, even when empty
  • Disposal must be undertaken in line with current regulations set out by local authorities
