HMG Paints + Sport = Winning Partnership
HMG Paints are an independent, family run paint manufacturer with over 80 years experience in the paint and surface coatings manufacturing industry. The company has 2 passions; the first is paint and the second is sport, we have a proud history of supplying various coatings to sports teams and sporting venues. The companies’ continual commitment to quality, development and innovation has allowed HMG Paints to flourish and continually expand. HMG’s highly experienced staff work closely with customers to understand their needs and develop coatings in line with those requirements. This is reflected in the longevity of many of our supply relationships.
Our biggest success in the sporting arena is Paint Away, which was initially used at Twickenham & Murrayfield. Paint Away was developed in conjunction with a customer that required a temporary coating, formulated with special waterborne polymers, which become insoluble in water once the paint has dried. Designed to meet specific customer specifications: it had to be removable, so the sponsor's branding could be erased after the match; lead-free, so there is no toxic risk when players slide across the turf; water-based, with no ingredients that are harmful to grass; rainfast and highly resistant to foot traffic and abrasion. It was also important that Paint Away had the necessary density and vibrancy of colour, for visibility on TV, and that it could be matched in a wide range of colours.
HMG Paints also provided high performance coatings for painting sports surfaces at the 2004 Olympic and Paralympics Games in Athens. HMG's water-based LMP enamel and single-pack Fleet Polyurethane were specified for a wide variety of surfaces, from concrete and tarmac to Astroturf and rubber matting, and used at virtually every sporting venue in Athens.
HMG Paints Paint Away has also been used at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff to create a temporary track for the Special Stage of the Wales Rally GB. The coating was applied to the surface of the stadium and was simply washed away after the event had finished. The Paint Away system has also been used in the Indian Twenty20 Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the Bledisloe Cup in Hong Kong and also closer to home in the BAFL (British American Football League.
HMG Paints also have a proud history of supplying free paint to sporting causes.
Our most recent donation was to the Manchester College for a Level 2 Paint and Body Refinishing course at the Manchester College Preston Street Campus, the students were refurbishing a Bobsleigh for Team GB, which went on to compete in the Winter Olympics Qualifying Stage Austria in November 2011.
“HMG Paints has also been a long time supporter and supplier of paint to Manchester Metropolitan University’s Formula Student team. Formula Student is Europe’s biggest student motorsport event. Run by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and backed by some of Formula 1’s biggest names, including Ross Brawn, Formula Student helps to breed world-class engineers, by challenging university students from around the world to design and build open-wheeled racing cars, then race them around the Silverstone circuit.

Contract awarded due to quick turnaround of product and was used on various pitches and venues for advertising.
PGA Golf Championships 2008
Various HMG Products used for Scoreboards, Stands, trade displays and various other items around the courses at various venues.
A1 Grand Prix 2008 - HMG's DP12 and Water Borne products were used for advertising on the grass around the circuit.
Wimbledon Tennis Championships
Various paints supplied for venues and surfaces.
HMG Coach Enamel used on advertising boards and the background boards around the playing area.
UEFA Champions League 2009
Various paints supplied for venues and surfaces.
HMG Fleet Polyurethane and DP12 used on advertising boards around the playing area, also
supplied for previous seasons.
Guinness Premiership Rugby
HMG Paint has been used on The Stoop, home of
Harlequins FC. HMG supplied its PVC 94 range for use on various parts of the stadium.

Test Match Cricket
HMG Products were used on advertising boards and on pitch logos for the ECB NatWest test series.

Paints supplied for indoor special stage at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Various HMG systems were used to create the track and logos
on the floor of the stadium..

Formula Student
Various coatings supplied FOC to Manchester Metropolitan University for use on their Formula Student project. With the help of HMG the University has steadily rose up the leaderboard.
Manchester College
Paint supplied FOC for a student project to refurbish Team GB’s Bobsleigh.
