HMG Paints Recruit Former DuPont Commercial Manager
Manchester based HMG Paints Ltd, the UK’s, largest independent paints manufacturer, has recently recruited former DuPont UK Commercial Manager, Andy Moores, as a coatings consultant and as their representative for the South of England and South Wales.
Andy Moores has vast experience working with key distribution networks, having previously worked for Brown Brothers Distribution, AKZO Nobel, and DuPont Performance Coatings in these regions.
On his appointment, Moores said: “Working with Britain’s largest independent family speciality coatings manufacturer is a fantastic opportunity for me. I have been very impressed with the flexibility, determination and enthusiasm at HMG Paints. The positive, can-do, will-do attitude is apparent throughout the organisation and has been essential to the company’s growth over recent years. This is a credit to all at HMG Paints.”

HMG Paints have developed a distribution network with many key partners throughout the UK and Ireland. The challenge for Andy is to promote HMG Paints and their wide portfolio of products to distribution partners in the South West and also South Wales. With HMG Paints’ ever growing coverage of the UK coatings market, the company aims to expand its presence in the South West and South Wales, along with further strengthening its activities in The North East & Cumbria and the rest of the UK.
Andy spent 23 years at DuPont Performance Coatings. After initially starting as a technical sales representative for the DuPont Refinish Brand, he later became National Sales Manager and was responsible for the successful introduction of the Five Star loyalty program to a network of likeminded body shops across the country.
In 1992 Andy became Country Business Manager for the UK & Ireland and in 1996 his responsibilities extended further to include Scandinavia, Finland and Estonia.
Andy then became UK Distribution Strategy Manager in 2007, taking responsibility for the Standox, Spies Hecker and DuPont Refinish brands. Moores later became UK Commercial Manager for all three brands before leaving DuPont Performance Coatings in December 2010.
After leaving DuPont, Andy decided to search for a growing, niche alternative company, that would help him utilise his distribution knowledge and strategies. HMG Paints’ focus on key independent distributors made them the perfect partner for collaboration.
