HMG Paints’ Monothane, an innovative, industry leading 2K polyurethane topcoat that requires no primer and provides a high quality, anti-corrosive finish, has had an interesting year from being on a Gold Medal winning X Games car and even being shortlisted for Insider Media’s “Made in the North West Technology Award.” In an industry that is ever looking to save money it is proving a very popular choice amongst end users and distributors.

One particular user who has made the switch to Monothane is Unity Coachworks of Matlock, who are supplied by long term distribution partner Spray Centre.

“Monothane is saving us time & labour, around 3-4 hours per vehicle, cutting out the primer coat is a good alternative for us and allowing us to work faster and more efficiently.” said Reg Smith “We’ve used HMG products for a long time and never had any issues”

Monothane has had a profound impact for Unity as it has transformed their application and production processes. With this new technology, Unity Coachworks are able to apply the paint, safe in the knowledge that it will provide a durable coating that will protect the chassis sub-frames & underside without needing to apply a primer.

“One of the aims when developing Monothane was to allow customers to reduce costs on the amount of paint used, by removing a stage in their application process.” Explains Alan Bradwell HMG CT Sales Manager “Saving them time and allowing them to refine and accelerate their manufacturing processes, whilst at the same time reducing the Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) released into the atmosphere.”

Monothane is available direct from HMG Paints and through their distribution network, spanning the whole of the UK. Distributors equipped with a UNIT LITE tinting scheme are able to tint Monothane to industry standard colours along with over 20,000 other colours on their own premises.
