Jonathan Falder, Sales Director of HMG Paints, has received two recent accolades having being appointed Vice-President of the British Coating Federation and as a visitor in the Accounting and Finance Division at Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS), The University of Manchester. With both appointments continuing long running ties between HMG Paints, the Falder Family and both institutions.

The British Coatings Federation is the Trade Association representing the interests of the decorative paints, industrial and powder coatings, printing inks, and wallcovering manufacturers in the UK.

“I’m very proud to follow in my Father, John and Uncle, Stephen’s, footsteps and become Vice-President of the British Coatings Federation in 2026. HMG Paints is proud to have a long association with the British Coatings Federation and I’m proud to carry on the Falders unique legacy with Stephen being the youngest ever BCF President and my father being the longest serving President.”

Alliance Manchester Business School (Alliance MBS) is the business school of the University of Manchester. It is one of the oldest business schools in the UK, and provides education to undergraduates, postgraduates and executives. The appointment formalises a collaborative relationship between Jonathan, HMG Paints and the university which has spanned multiple generations.

Jonathan’s grandfather Brian Falder, was a member of the very first MBA cohort at Manchester Business School. The role will allow Jonathan to contribute to the academic community and utilise university facilities, including the extensive library and IT resources.

“I am very proud of this affiliation,” said Jonathan Falder. “This is a great honour for me, I look forward to the continued collaboration with Alliance Manchester Business School and expanding on the work we have done on the AMAC initiative.”

The Advanced Management Achievement Course (AMAC) is a 3-week highly specialised programme designed for military officers moving into management and executive careers. HMG Paints have been long term partners with Manchester Business School and supported the course with Jonathan taking over from his father John in conducting his very own session during the programme.

The appointment was arranged through Professor Paolo Quattrone and Dr. Lucy Daly, both from AMBS. The partnership highlights the mutual respect and strong ties between industry and academia in the Manchester community.
